Condo living offers residents a lot of benefits, such as less maintenance work and proximity to essential establishments. On the other hand, one of the things that a condo owner does not get to enjoy is spending some time relaxing in a garden. The good thing is that there are a lot of things that you can do to give your condo unit an outdoorsy feel.
Indoor plants and flowers
Get some potted indoor plants and place them strategically around the condo. Just make sure that the plants you choose will be able to adapt to the temperature and the amount of sunlight in your unit. Also, choose plants that are not too bulky so that they won’t take up too much space, and not ones that will need constant pruning if you don’t have the time to do so. Flowers can brighten up any room, and the best part is, you don’t have to be stuck with the same kind all the time; when it’s time to replace them, just pick another type of flower to change the feel of your place, too.
Outdoor decorations
Hang some artwork with outdoor subjects on the walls, or frame some nature photos that you’ve taken and place them on tables and shelves. Get a fish bowl and fill it with white sand and some shells for a beach-themed centerpiece. Collect some smooth stones or buy them from a hardware store and stack them up on a small tray or a plate to create another showpiece. Bring a water element into your home by getting a miniature indoor fountain or waterfall.
Al fresco ambiance
You can increase the amount of sunlight in your condo by replacing heavy curtains with sheer drapes, or by simply pulling them back once in a while. Treat your olfactory sense to a variety of garden scents with air fresheners sprayed or scented candles lighted all over the unit. A bit of music can also do a lot in enhancing the outdoor feel of your place; depending on your mood, you can play everything from nature sounds to Bob Marley to Zen music.
Condos may lack the open-air appeal that houses boast of, but that doesn’t mean that you have to endure cabin fever all the time. With just a few adjustments, you can turn your unit into a place any outdoor person would be happy to call home.
